This is a unique three-year degree taught at Massey Auckland campus. The retail sector contributes significantly to national economies and is a major employer. The degree was created as a response for employer demand for graduates with sound managerial skills combined with retail industry knowledge. It meets industry needs for retail staff and managers who can keep up with changing consumer demands.
The course combines general business skills with retail expertise and covers the following topics; retail buying and planning, merchandising, strategy and business planning and retail operations, both in a store and online context. It also focuses on supply chain to store design, logistics to law, management to marketing.
Students learn best-practise techniques for retail in both physical and virtual environments. Internships are included in each level of the programme so that students can develop strong industry connections and real-world retail experiences. Graduates are in high demand and leave the programme with both skills and work experience and are highly employable.
